In Tegallalang, Gianyar officials found 10 of 13 money changers had no permit and took their rate boards down.
The headlines
- Jalan Pulasari Kawan in Tembuku, Bangli, broke in heavy rain on 1 November; no injuries
- The road is closed with no repair date; police ask drivers to use other routes
- 10 of 13 money changers checked in Tegallalang had no permit
- Light rain forecast for south Bali on 3 November; the heavy rain alert runs to 4 November
Two practical stories from the last day of rain in Bali: a back road towards Kintamani has broken in two near Tembuku in Bangli, and officials in Gianyar have found that most money changers they checked in Tegallalang had no permit.
Road towards Kintamani cut in Pulasari, Bangli
A section of Jalan Pulasari Kawan in Pulasari village, Tembuku district, Bangli, sank and then broke completely at about 11pm on Sunday 1 November, during heavy rain. Antara reports that high water in the river below caused it. The road is a tourism route and an alternative way up to the Kintamani area and the Mount Abang hiking trail.
Bangli police confirmed that nobody was hurt. detikBali reports that a car driver stopped only a few metres before the break, on a stretch with no street lights. The road cannot be used and police say repairs cannot start yet, so there is no reopening date. They ask drivers to take other routes.
What it means for visitors: if your map app sends you to Kintamani or Mount Abang through Tembuku, choose another route and check it again on the day. Ride up in daylight while the rain alert is on: broken edges and debris are hard to see at night.

10 of 13 money changers in Tegallalang had no permit
Gianyar's public order agency (Satpol PP) checked 13 money changers in Tegallalang village after complaints from the public, detikBali reported on 2 November. Only 3 had a business permit. The other 10 were marked as illegal and their exchange rate boards were taken down. The head of the agency, Putu Yudanegara, said owners who still don't comply could lose their business or be closed.
What it means for visitors: Tegallalang is on the way to the rice terraces and Kintamani, so many riders stop there. Change money only at a bank, an ATM or a licensed money changer, count the notes yourself before you leave the counter, and walk away from a rate that looks much better than the others.

The heavy rain alert we covered in our weekly roundup runs until 4 November, so keep a raincoat under the seat (one comes with every alrity scooter).
