How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Bali? (2026 prices)

By the alrity team in Kerobokan, Bali · Updated 1 Nov 2026

The short answer

A small 110–125 cc automatic usually rents for about Rp60,000 to Rp100,000 a day at a local shop in Bali, and bigger scooters like the Yamaha NMAX or a Vespa cost more. Renting by the week or month lowers the price per day. With alrity, prices run from Rp75K to Rp200K a day, with 20% off from 7 days, 24% off from 14 days and 50% off from 30 days, delivered to your villa with no deposit.

Key facts

  • Small automatic (Scoopy, Vario, Fino): about Rp60K–100K a day at local shops (2026 price guides).
  • Monthly: about Rp1.2M–1.8M for a small scooter, Rp2.5M–3.5M for a maxi scooter like the NMAX or PCX.
  • Budget extra for fuel, parking (Rp2,000–5,000 a time) and damage: most Bali rentals have no insurance.
  • alrity: Rp75K–Rp200K a day, minimum 2 days, no deposit, pay on delivery.

Typical scooter rental prices in Bali

Price guides published in 2026 put a standard 110–125 cc automatic at roughly Rp60,000 to Rp100,000 a day, about Rp400,000 to Rp600,000 a week and from around Rp1.2 million a month. Maxi scooters such as the Yamaha NMAX or Honda PCX are quoted higher, at around Rp2.5 to 3.5 million a month. Treat these as ranges: every shop prices by area, season and how good the scooter is.

Why prices differ so much

  • The scooter. A new NMAX or Vespa costs a shop several times more than an old 110 cc scooter, and the rental price follows.
  • How long you rent. Almost every shop lowers the daily price for a week or a month. Ask for the weekly price even for five days: it can work out cheaper.
  • Where you rent. Shops on busy tourist streets and in Uluwatu tend to charge more than shops in residential areas.
  • Delivery. Shops that bring the scooter to your villa either build it into the price or charge per trip.
  • The season. July and August, and Christmas to New Year, are the busiest months: fewer free scooters and firmer prices.

The costs nobody mentions

  • Fuel. Scooters use little fuel, but bigger ones like the NMAX should run on Pertamax, the green pumps at Pertamina stations.
  • Parking. Beaches, cafés and markets charge Rp2,000 to Rp5,000, paid in cash to the attendant.
  • Damage. Most Bali rentals include no insurance, so a scratch or a broken mirror is yours to pay. Ask for the price list before you ride; ours is public in our rental terms.
  • Fines. Riding without a licence that covers motorcycles can cost up to Rp1,000,000 under Indonesia's traffic law, and no helmet up to Rp250,000. See our licence guide.
  • The deposit. Many shops ask for cash or keep your passport until you return. We take neither.

How not to overpay

  1. Count the days you really need: 7 days can cost less per day than 5.
  2. Photograph the scooter with the shop before you ride, so old scratches are never charged to you.
  3. Check the tyres, brakes and lights, and ask when it was last serviced.
  4. Ask what's included: two helmets, a raincoat, and what happens if it breaks down.
  5. Get the full price in writing, delivery and pickup included. A WhatsApp message is fine.
