Yamaha NMAX rental in Bali

The Yamaha NMAX is the scooter most visitors to Bali end up wanting: a big, comfortable automatic with a long seat for two and room under it for a helmet and a small bag. It is relaxed on the longer rides Bali is made of, from Canggu down to Uluwatu or up to Ubud, and easy in town once you are used to its size.

We bring it to your villa, hotel or guesthouse with two helmets and a raincoat, check it with you at the door and collect it at the end. No deposit, and you pay on delivery.

Riding the Yamaha NMAX in Bali

  • It is bigger and heavier than the small scooters you see everywhere in Bali. If it's your first time on one, ride a few slow loops in a quiet lane before you join the main road.
  • The seat is wide and fairly low, so most riders can put both feet down at a stop, even with a passenger.
  • Fill up with Pertamax, the green pumps at Pertamina stations. "Pertamax, penuh" means a full tank.
  • Under the seat there is room for a helmet or a small bag, handy for beach days. Don't leave valuables in it.
  • Most cafés, beaches and beach clubs have a parking attendant for motorbikes; a small fee of a few thousand rupiah is normal.

How renting works

  1. Pick your dates, the Yamaha NMAX and where we bring it. You don't pay anything online.
  2. We confirm on WhatsApp, usually within the hour, and ask for a photo of your passport, your hotel or villa booking and your return flight.
  3. We deliver, check the scooter with you, and you pay by cash or transfer. At the end we collect it.

Questions about renting a Yamaha NMAX

Is the NMAX good for two people?

Yes. It has a long, wide seat, footrests for the passenger and enough power to carry two up the hills around Uluwatu and Ubud. It's the scooter we suggest most often to couples.

Is the NMAX hard to ride for a beginner?

It's an automatic, so there are no gears: twist to go, brake with both hands. It is heavier than a small scooter, so it suits people who have ridden a scooter before. If you haven't, practise in a quiet street first.

NMAX or Vespa: which should I rent?

The NMAX is the more comfortable choice for long rides and two people; the Vespa is the classic for shorter rides around Canggu and Seminyak. Our NMAX or Vespa guide compares them in more detail.

What's the minimum rental, and is it cheaper for longer?

The minimum is 2 days. The price per day drops the longer you ride: 20% off from 7 days, 24% off from 14 days, 50% off from 30 days. The cheapest price for your dates is applied automatically.

Do I pay a deposit or leave my passport?

No deposit, and we never keep your passport. To confirm a booking we ask on WhatsApp for a photo of your passport, your hotel or villa booking and your return flight ticket.

What's included, and how do I pay?

Every rental includes 2 helmets, raincoat, phone holder. You pay on delivery, by cash or bank transfer, and we help on WhatsApp from 8am to 9pm for the whole rental.

Do I need a driving licence to ride a scooter in Bali?

Yes. You need a licence that covers motorcycles: your home licence with the motorcycle category plus an International Driving Permit that shows it too, or an Indonesian SIM C. Police in Bali do check, and travel insurance usually won't pay without one.
